Emmer Green Gymnastic club has run gymnastic classes at Highdown School Sport Hall for over 35 years. The ethos of our club is to provide all-inclusive gymnastic classes for all abilities within the local community. We encourage children to work at a level that permits an enjoyable learning environment encouraging intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. There is no benchmark required to enter our classes, we work with all age groups and sexes to help them gain confidence, motor skills, balance and overall fitness working with them to their best ability and capability.

Our coaches have been through the same journey starting at a young age as an Emmer Green Gymnast and now coaching as a hobby, contributing their time to teach gymnastics to a new generation. Our senior coaches devote their time to teaching new and advanced skills developing the children to compete and to participate in displays. They will also mentor those that choose to progress into coaching, helping them gain their first level in the British Gymnastics coaching framework.

Our club offers the more advanced children a chance to compete within our advanced recreational club (Squad) which operates from the same venue. This acts as a feeder club from the recreational general gym classes.

As with any sport we rely heavily on grants and voluntary contribution to maintain and replace our equipment as our fees are ploughed back into the club to cover running cost.

Pete is the club manager and senior coach who runs the club in his spare time as a hobby away from his day job. Pete is a qualified level 3 coach with 20 years’ experience in coaching Gymnastics.
